Grateful Hearts

ABOUT
GRATEFUL HEARTS
Grateful Hearts is a community service initiative dedicated to fostering a culture of gratitude and empowering individuals to experience its transformative power in their lives and communities.
The goal of Grateful Hearts is to plant seeds of gratitude in children’s hearts and minds helping them grow into more compassionate, resilient, and joyful individuals. Gratitude isn’t just a positive mindset—it’s proven to boost well-being.

The Benefits of Gratitude
Studies from the National Institute of Health show that simple practices like journaling or expressing thanks can increase life satisfaction, improve mental health, and even reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Harvard research also highlights how gratitude strengthens relationships and helps people focus on what they have rather than what they lack . By cultivating gratitude, we can create more resilient, joyful, and connected communities.

Where Our Gratitude Journey Began
From a young age, Abigail was immersed in diverse cultures and deeply moved by the resilience and spirit of the people around her. Surrounded by orphans who had very little, Abigail witnessed profound gratitude for even the smallest acts of kindness. It was there that she truly learned the meaning of gratitude – to show thankfulness for everything in life. This experience profoundly shaped her perspective, influencing how she treats others, perceives her own life, and ultimately, inspiring her to create Grateful Hearts.

Volunteering with Hope International
During her time in South Africa, Abigail actively volunteered with Hope International, participating in rebuilding an orphanage, opening a bakery, constructing homes and a church, providing shelter for the homeless, and establishing a music and theatrical program at a local K-12 school.

This extensive hands-on experience not only solidified her understanding of the profound impact of collective action but also deeply instilled in her the joy of giving back and fostering hope within a community.
It is this spirit of service, born from witnessing gratitude in action, that forms the foundation of Grateful Hearts.
