ABIGAIL SELYUKOV
Grateful Hearts Founder | Author
Abigail Selyukov, is the founder of Grateful Hearts. Inspired by a childhood spent in South Africa, where she witnessed profound gratitude amidst challenging circumstances, Abigail was moved to create an initiative that empowers others to experience the transformative power of thankfulness
Growing up as the daughter of immigrants from Eastern Europe instilled in Abigail at a young age to pursue her passions and work hard towards her goals.
Abigail’s journey reflects her deep commitment to gratitude, kindness, and serving others. She believes in creating meaningful change by inspiring people to recognize the value of everyday blessings and share that gratitude with their communities.

Beyond her service work, Abigail is also an award-winning pianist. Growing up in South Africa, she developed a strong love for music through her involvement in theatrical productions with children she supported, and through the influence of her mother, who once ran a music school. Her dedication to music has not only shaped her creativity but also strengthened her ability to connect with and inspire others.

Abigail’s vision for Grateful Hearts is grounded in the science of gratitude. Research in positive psychology shows that practicing gratitude can improve mood, reduce stress, and build resilience, especially in young people. By teaching youth to shift their focus from what’s lacking to what they already have, gratitude becomes a simple but powerful tool for strengthening mental health. Through Grateful Hearts, Abigail hopes to make these practices accessible to students, giving them a healthier perspective on challenges and a greater sense of connection to others.

Abigail’s vision for Grateful Hearts is to expand its reach and positively impact thousands of people across the community. She plans to introduce gratitude practices into schools through reflection exercises, provide encouragement and companionship in senior care facilities, and spread uplifting messages through social media. By doing so, she aims to inspire everyday acts of kindness and build a culture of gratitude that strengthens mental health and fosters meaningful connection.
